Ep 041: LCpl Jon Flint - Royal Marines Veteran

Jon joined the Royal Marines Commandos in 1994 and served for 13 years, reaching the rank of Lance Corporal (LCpl).

In this episode Jon talks about applying for the British Army, before joining the Royal Marines Commandos, and he explains what the Commando training is like. He also discusses being part of HMS Fearless, deploying on multiple tours with 42 Commando, and then the decision to specialise in the Royal Marines Police Troop.

Jon also shares deploying to Norway for cold weather training, and what it’s really like doing the famous ice-breaking. He was deployed to Afghanistan on Police duties and he shares some of the differences from when he was on general duties as a Marine. Lastly, he explains what it was like finding a hidden injury as a veteran, which lead him to sports recovery and competing at two Invictus Games.
